RACKING GUIDE

Measure it once.
Send it clearly.

A practical guide to the measurements, labels and photos that help identify existing pallet racking and compatible components.

Measure it once.
RACKING GUIDE

Identify the rack.
Measure the essentials.

Rackway’s live buying guide stresses that similar-looking systems may not be compatible. These measurements and photographs make matching stock much easier.

01

Frame height

Measure from the floor to the top of the upright/frame.

02

Frame depth

Measure front upright to rear upright, outside to outside.

03

Beam length

Measure the beam span and photograph both end connectors.

04

Beam section

Record beam face height/width and any markings you can see.

05

Levels & quantities

Count the bays, beam levels and approximate total quantity.

06

Labels & upright holes

Photograph manufacturer/load labels, frame-hole pattern and beam connectors.

Best first message: one wide photo, one beam-connector close-up, one upright close-up, any load notice, approximate quantities and the postcode.
RACKING BASICS

Frames, beams
and load notices.

Frames / end frames

The vertical assemblies, usually with horizontal and diagonal bracing, feet and sometimes shims.

Beams

Horizontal members spanning between frames. Common lengths include 1350mm, 2700mm and 3300mm, but many other sizes exist.

UDL / load notice

Beam and bay capacities are normally stated as uniformly distributed loads on the rack’s load notice.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Useful answers.
Before you call.

Quick answers to the questions customers commonly need when buying, selling, removing or planning warehouse racking.

What photos are most useful?+

A wide bay photo, the beam connector, upright-hole pattern, load notice and any manufacturer labels are the most useful first images.

Why does the connector matter?+

Many systems look similar but are not compatible. The connector and upright-hole pattern are often the quickest way to narrow down the make.

Should I measure inside or outside the frame?+

For the first enquiry, clearly state how you took each measurement. Frame depth is most useful when measured consistently from upright to upright.

Do I need exact quantities?+

Not initially. An approximate bay count and number of beam levels is usually enough to begin identifying the job.

Do you work nationwide?+

Yes. Rackway handles projects across the UK and uses its local contact points as part of one nationwide team.

Can you help with small jobs?+

Yes. Rackway works from single bays and spare components through to major warehouse projects.
